Walking in the Storm

As I walk home at 12:00, I feel thankful that they decided to send us home early from school due to the rotten weather. My siblings and I decided to walk home instead of taking the bus given we only live 1 km away. As we're walking on the snow covered side walk, bundled up in our winter coats and hats, all I can think about is the taste of Hot Chocolate and how good it will be when we get home. While walking it's quite peaceful, the fluffy snow flakes falling on our knit hats and the sound of our voices mixed with the sound of cars driving cautiously down the street. We can hardly see anything in front of us because of the storm but I don't mind. The smell of the cold air reminds me of when my neighbours along with my brother sister and I used to play in the snow for hours at a time, digging tunnels in the snow banks and building an army of  snow men. As we are walking people are starting to shovel off their steps and snow blow their drive way's. We see younger kids, probably in their younger elementary years, having snow ball fights and building forts. Part of me wants to go play in with them but the bigger part of me just wants to get home and out of the stormy weather.
